GRADE 4B, MEDIUM / FAST PACE

Part 2/12: This section is the second hardest of the challenge. We'll ascend Platteklip Gorge, tag Maclear's Beacon (the highest part of Table Mountain) and then cross the mountain to exit down Kasteelspoort. On the way we'll stop by in Orion's Cave for our lunch stop. Today you can expect 12kms with 900m elevation gain and 1070m elevation loss. Car shuttling or Uber will be necessary.
About the 13 peaks: trail runner Ryan Sandes developed a circular route that covers 13 iconic peaks in Cape Town. We will complete the challenge over 7 months. All hikes are open to everyone, whether or not you are doing the challenge. Since not everyone will be available for every peak, Helen will set up a dedicated WhatsApp group for those doing the challenge to coordinate catch up hikes.
Please earmark the Sunday as an alternative hiking day in case of predicted poor weather on the Saturday.
Bookings open 2 months before the hike. Bookings close the Friday before the hike at 18h00. No smoking on the hike.
