GRADE 3B, MEDIUM/SLOW PACE
Max 12. This is a circular route through the restricted area of Orange Kloof. We hike along the ring road, enjoying tranquil surroundings, lovely fynbos and pockets of forest, before following the Disa Stream, under indigenous forest, in cool, shady conditions, to the waterfall at Hell's Gates where we take a tea/snack break. The route along the stream involves some caution, boulder-hopping, rock scrambling and the use of hands (mild exposure to heights and slightly technical), with a narrow rock ledge to cross at one of the rock pools (careful hand and footwork). We return via the Orange Kloof Valley/forest floor. No dogs allowed. Space is limited since this hike requires a permit.
